The Bukit Kepong incident took place on 23 February 1950 and is one of the most significant historical events of Malaysia. This is where the Federation of Malaya Police was attacked by the Malayan Communist Party’s terrorist at the Bukit Kepong Police Station around Muar, Johor. More than 20 people were killed during the attack but it was the fighting spirit and the fact that the policemen fighting till their last breath and the last man that that signified the strong spirit and patriotism of the people against the overwhelming communist influence during the Malayan Emergency. The communist threat in the country was eventually subdued and Malaya achieved independence 7 years later.
