Membership card Cheating
A few years ago, I enrolled into a membership card (Cintai Malaysia VIP) where I had to pay around RM400 which comes with a 2 days and 1 night free stay package. I did not use the card or its facilities which means I wasted the RM400.
A few years later, they called me to upgrade the card to Gold status. I told them that I am not interested with which they ‘threatened’ me that if I do not upgrade, I will be charged monthly. On top of that, I had to pay RM500 more. I declined. Later on, they called me again to upgrade to Platinum. Is this legal?
The logical thing to do is to lodge a report with the National Consumer Complaints Centre (NCCC). Take note that the NCCC is aware of this company and the issue has been brought to light. If there is a way to record the conversation, you could bring your case further by lodging a police report against them. Alternatively, you can also complain to the Tribunal of Consumer Claims Malaysia.
