Notable for the delicious and scrumptious local delights, Georgetown has several hotspots serving variety of Chinese, Malay and Indian cuisine. One should try the famous Char Kuey Teow, Prawn Mee, Cendol, Pasembor and Lor Mee. Firstly, stop by at the Kek Seng Coffee Shop located in Penang Road. Opens daily from 9 am onwards, you can try all the special localities such as asam laksa, kway teow th’ng, loh bak and also sweet and refreshing ais kacang.
Most tourists who are in Penang shall drop by at Sin Hwa Kopitiam to try the famous char kway teow. Ideally located along Burmah Street, it is open everyday except Thursday. Quench your thirst at Penang Road Teochew Cendol with a bowl of sweet cendol mix with gula Melaka. Established since 60 years ago, it also offers pegaga juice and cendol with red beans.
Longing for mamak food? Then stop by at Pata Hameed Special Mee Stall for a bowl of delicious mee rebus that comes together with sweet potatoes as the base of the soup. Also, you can try the fried yellow noodles served with special squid sambal.
