Malaysia’s most recent general elections were in 2008 and 2013. So if nothing happens before that, the next election will 2018. However, many are speculating that the PM might be calling for snap polls. The government has been giving out subsidies and so-called ‘goodies’ to the people and this has created a lot of feel-good factor among the people. If the confidence from the people are high, the PM will be calling for election earlier without delay. For the past election in 2013, it was held in May 13 when the school holidays come about and it is the ideal month because it is before the festive season while the year end are usually the rainy season which might be difficult for people to travel around and vote.
