Malaysia practices a democratic system where the government is elected through the general elections. There are 2 levels of election that comes around which is the federal and state elections. The national election will involve all levels of leaders where registered and eligible voters head to the polls. In every state, there are federal seats which will accumulate the majority to form the government while there are also state seats of which the majority winning party will rule the particular state. Elected representatives to the government are known as Members of Parliament and they will have a voice on passing of laws and decision making of the country.
